Felix Meritis's Concertzaal is the oldest concert hall in western Europe. Famous for its acoustics it was, until the mid-19th century, the main concert hall of Amsterdam and was a podium for composers such as Schumann and Brahms. The small hall of the Concertgebouw was constructed based on the model of Felix's Concertzaal.
