Gabriel Bach: Sharing an office with Adolf Eichmann
Gabriel Bach was one of the prosecutors of Adolf Eichmann. Later in his life, he was appointed Judge to the Israeli Supreme Court. Born in Germany in 1927, Justice Bach was educated in Berlin. In 1938, exactly two weeks before the Kristallnacht, the Bach family moved to Holland. One month before the German invasion of Holland in 1940, they relocated to Jerusalem. Bach was later told that he was the only Jew of his school in Amsterdam to have survived the war. Adolf Eichmann, one of the top-ranking Nazis responsible for the Holocaust was captured in 1960 in Buenos Aires by the Israeli Mossad as part of a covert operation. He was to be prosecuted in Jerusalem as a war criminal. Justice Bach was appointed to the position of senior prosecutor. Bach spent six months talking with Eichmann in preparation of the trial and, because his German is fluent, was able to interact with Eichmann in an informal manner.
On November 13th, he will share his unique experiences and provide an insight into the what was become the trial of the century.
