Honorary doctorate for Steve Austen (Permanent Fellow Felix Meritis)

At the celebrations of World Theater Day (27 March 2009), Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University has granted Steve Austen, Permanent Fellow of Felix Meritis and chairman of The Amsterdam-Maastricht Summer University, an honorary doctorate.

At the celebrations of World Theater Day (27 March 2009), Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University has granted Steve Austen, Permanent Fellow of Felix Meritis and chairman of The Amsterdam-Maastricht Summer University, an honorary doctorate.

The academic board of the university was guided by the following considerations: „For more than a quarter of a century, Steve Austen has contributed in word and writing to the internationalisation of the European performing arts. Georgian artists and scientific institutions have successfully used Austen's knowledge and experience for the past ten years. These are so specific and  express such unusual insights that the modern European cultural landscape would certainly have looked different without Steve Austen's efforts."
