Creative industries in Finland – an example for the Netherlands?
Finland is frequently praised as the classic example of a social knowledge-based economy. This is partly thanks to the development of an innovation system in which the link between technology, economics and culture plays an increasingly important role. According to a EU study from 2002, Finland, together with Sweden and Denmark, is actually one of the leading European countries in this area. How has this come about? Which policies does the Finnish government employ for the creative industry, specifically in the area of design and pop music? And how does Dutch policy relate to this approach?
This meeting will attempt to find answers to these questions. In addition to speakers from Finland, Joeri van den Steenhoven (Kennisland) and Bart Hofstede (Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science) will participate in the meeting.
